Untamed Steps
We are a small, Kenyan-owned safari company based in Northern Laikipia.
Our main focus is walking safaris, but we also run photographic and mobile safaris across Kenya. Because we work from a private reserve, we have the freedom to spend our time differently—walking, exploring by vehicle, heading out at night or simply stopping to enjoy what is happening around us.
We build each safari around the people coming on it, rather than starting with a fixed itinerary.
How do you want to explore?
WALKING SAFARIS
Leave the vehicle behind and explore on foot. Walk at your own pace, follow tracks, read the landscape and spend nights under the stars.
Photographic Safaris
Spend time with wildlife worth photographing—from leopards and striped hyenas to wild dogs, Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffes..
MOBILE SAFARIS
Travel beyond one destination. From the forests of the Aberdares to the wilds of Meru with a safari built around the journey.
Your safari, your way
Tell us what interests you, and we will build the experience around it. Walk for a few hours or spend the day on foot. Spend your time photographing leopards, explore somewhere completely new, or simply slow down and enjoy being in the bush. There does not have to be a set way of doing it.
About Us
We are a small, Kenyan-owned safari company, and Northern Laikipia is home to us. Being based on a private conservancy gives us the freedom to experience the bush differently and build our days around what is happening in front of us.
The way we like to safari
We are not interested in rushing from one wildlife sighting to the next.
Being on private land gives us the freedom to get out of the vehicle, walk through the bush, spend time watching what is happening around us and explore after dark.
Most importantly, the day does not have to follow a set plan. If you want to walk further, we walk further. If something interesting is happening, we stay. If you would rather slow down and enjoy the surroundings, we do that too.
The idea is simple: spend less time following an itinerary and more time experiencing the bush.
